Graduation
On June 1, 1961, the Senior Class took part in their last ceremony as students of E. T. H. S, This solemn ceremony was filled with both sadness at parting and happiness about the future as expressed in the salutatory and valedictory addresses by Tom Pinnell and Jane Pulliam. The voices of the Senior Girls' Choir and Larry Phelps as they rose in song also expressed faith for future success. Next, the following were presented; Eagles' Awards: Jane Pulliam, Tom Pinnell, Faye Tison; S, A. R. Award: Jerry Wesley; D. A. R. Award: Faye Tison; Rotary Club Award: Jack Muckley; Lions Club Award: Karen White; Senior Awards: Don Arfiack, David Irvin, Trudy Gidcumb, Faye Tison, Tom Pinnell, Jane Pulliam. At last came the presentation of the diplomas by the President of the Board of Education, Carl Davenport, with the response by Senior Class President Jerry Wesley. Slowly, the last note of the recessional, played by Barbara Johnston, sounded ending four years of work for the class of 1961.
